Spouse Membership

If you are an AUSCOAL Super member, your spouse is also eligible to open their own account with us and enjoy the benefits of AUSCOAL Super membership.

Spouse contributions

Spouse members can direct all their super contributions to AUSCOAL Super, including employer contributions, voluntary lump sum contributions and rollovers from other superannuation funds.

A minimum contribution of $100 applies when joining or making lump sums. Please note that current legislation prevents spouse members over age 70 from contributing to AUSCOAL Super.

AUSCOAL Super members can also make contributions to their spouse's account even if their spouse is not working. Spouse members who make contributions on behalf of a low income or non working spouse may be entitled to a tax offset of 18% on up to $3,000 of contributions made. The tax offset reduces by 18 cents for every dollar of assessable income and reportable fringe benefits your spouse earns over $10,800, reducing to zero when your spouse's income reaches $13,800 or more. This equates to a maximum benefit of $540.
